Johann Philip Schambach, born on March 23, 1764, in Pennsylvania [1], was a patriot of the American Revolution, serving in the Lancaster County Militia in 1782 [2,3], The son of Johann Georg Schambach and Maria Margaretha Ludwig [1], he was baptized in Annville, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania [4,5]. Philip married Hannah Regina Albert [1], and together they raised a large family in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, where they lived primarily in West Pennsboro and Frankford townships [1].

Philip was a landowner, acquiring property in West Pennsboro in 1790 [6,7] and engaging in several land transactions in Frankford from 1798 to 1824 [8,9,10]. He appeared in U.S. Census records from 1790 to 1840, reflecting his longstanding presence in the region [11,12,13,14,15]. A farmer by trade, he was taxed in 1793 for 100 acres, two horses, and two cows [1]. Philip also served as an executor for his son Peter's will in 1823 [16,17] and had his own estate probated in 1845 [16,18].

He passed away on September 24, 1845, in Cumberland County [1,19,20] and was laid to rest at Salem Stone Church Cemetery in Carlisle, Pennsylvania [1,20,21].
