Petrus (Peter)Quick was my 4th great-grandfather, born 28 Jan.1727/1728 in Ulster County, New York. He married Johanna Consalus-Duk on 17 Nov. 1748. He died in the year of 1806. His residence and homestead farm were located at Sarepta, Oxford Township, Warren County, New Jersey. Petrus served as a private/sergeant in the Revolutionary War under Captain Joseph Mackey's 1st regiment of the New Jersey Militia. It is noted in one of his son's pension papers that Petrus volunteered his services to buy cattle for the Continental Army and used his teams to deliver his wheat and grain to the Revolutionary War soldiers to make bread. He provided this service during and until the end of the war. (Note: some of the foundations of a grain mill located on the Beaver Brook in Sarepta, NJ remain close to the Petrus homestead). Petrus and Johanna had eleven children of which seven were his sons and served in the militia during the war. Petrus was not only their father but, in some situations, their commanding officer as also noted on their pension applications. Listed are the seven and their service:
